Our Community: Celebrating Ballet, Coral Reefs, and Sustainability
To celebrate World Environment Day and World Ocean Day, we're shining a light on one of our amazing customers and her inspiring project that brings together ballet, climate action, and hope. As a sustainable brand, Imperfect Pointes is always excited to see how our community uses dance to make a difference and this one truly moves us.
Meet Ann Louise Wall: Dancer, Dreamer, Eco-Champion
Ann Louise Wall isn’t just a talented dancer—she’s a changemaker. Based in London, Ann’s work blends classical ballet with powerful messages about healing, connection, and our planet. With an impressive background English National Ballet School, Ballet Cymru, and and currently as a Principal Dancer with English Youth Ballet, Ann brings her passion for community and the environment into every performance.
She’s currently studying trauma, mental health and wellbeing, and her projects often bring dance to people and places that might not otherwise have access to it. She's a real purpose driven dancer.

Introducing Fragmented: A dance for the Earth
Fragmented, is a breathtaking short film created as part of the ClimArts Shorts initiative. It’s a collaborative art-meets-science project that tackles one of the most urgent issues of our time—coral reef degradation.
Through ballet, music, and poetry, Fragmented explores the loss, recovery, and growth of coral reefs. It takes the viewer on a journey from the devastation of coral bleaching to the possibilities offered by cutting-edge research and global-scale solutions. And yes, it’s as beautiful and powerful as it sounds.
Science + Art = Impact
Created in collaboration with researchers at Harvard University including scientist Jessica Zamborain Mason and lecturer in design at the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès - Elise Rigo. Fragmented makes complex climate issues both accessible and emotional. Directed by Jonathan Stow, with music by Isaac Shieh and script by Emily Haver,
Fragmented connects the dots on why people should care about coral reefs. Showing that their fragility reflects our own brief and precious lives on this planet, while drawing them in through the entertainment that ballet provides.
Ann parallels her journey of recovery from injury as a dancer with the fragile resilience of coral reefs, both requiring the right conditions to heal. Through movement, she weaves a story of renewal for both the self and the earth.

Styled by the Sea (and Sustainability)
Throughout the film, Ann wears Imperfect Pointes leotards—a natural choice for a dancer who cares deeply about the planet. Our pieces helped her feel “at one with the sea,” knowing she was supporting a sustainable brand while telling a story about climate change.
Why Ann only wears Imperfect Pointes Tights
Ann also shared a glowing review of our ballet tights, and we couldn’t resist highlighting it:
“They are the most comfortable tights as well. I love them both for rehearsal and performance. The leotards are so soft, comfortable and have lovely varieties of designs and colours. But more importantly, they serve not only me as the wearer, but the earth around me.”
She especially loves that our tights can be returned for recycling—although, fun fact: she hasn’t needed to send any back yet because they’ve all lasted so well!
