The tights were chosen as part of the costume for the Royal Ballet School's 2024 end of year Summer Performances for the all male piece 'ASSEMBLAGE' by Choreographer Gemma Bond.
There were 24 male ballet dancers on stage in this striking piece. For some, it was the last time they would dance together before embarking on their professional ballet careers. Gemma Bond created this choreography about coming together especially for the Royal Ballet School dancers and this group, taking into account their personal qualities of movement. This piece is one that is full of contrasts, making our Men's recycled nylon Ombré tights the perfect look. Within the piece there are moments where dancers can shine as individuals and at other times where the group is working as a collective together.
The costumes were designed by Suzie Holland, of the Royal Ballet Costume department who wanted something really simple yet distinctive on stage. That's where Imperfect Pointes tights came in. It was an added bonus that they are made by a small sustainable UK dancewear brand. The Forest Ombre tights are not just designed here in the UK, they are manufactured in the North of England too and that is exceptionally rare to find these days.
Gemma Bond said of the costume choice:
"The costumes were kept simple because of the complex movement, and the large cast of dancers. I wanted the dancers lines to be shown off, as they all have such wonderful clean techniques. The dancers are so athletic and the tights show off the beautiful lines their bodies are making, which is is really, really lovely. Something that shows off their classical ballet technique but also how they adapt to contemporary dance"
The tights were worn for all the Royal Ballet School shows in the Linbury Theatre, Opera Holland Park and end of year show.
If you are looking for some striking new sustainable dancewear these Ombre Tights come in Ocean Blue or Forest Green and are available from Boys size (age 9-12) or Mens sizes small to XL with XL being Made to order, ready in 5 weeks.
Dancers often tell us that they find it so refreshing to see interesting and impactful boys and mens dancewear. (check out the reviews) These full length tights have become an iconic style loved by trainee dancers and Professionals alike. Gareth Haw, recently Promoted Principal of English National Ballet is a fan of the Forest Green Ombré tights. Ocean Blue Ombré has also been seen on the legs of New York City Ballet Principal, Chun Wai Chan.
